Valley River Electrical & Construction Ltd & Valley River Heat Pumps acknowledges that we operate on the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. We recognize the importance of building respectful, meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities in Nova Scotia and contributing to reconciliation through our work.

Our Commitments

1  Respect & Recognition

  • Acknowledge Mi’kmaq territory in our company communications and practices.
  • Continue to learn about Indigenous history, rights, and culture in Nova Scotia.

2  Employment & Training

  • Support pathways for Indigenous apprentices in HVAC and electrical trades.
  • Provide fair and inclusive opportunities for Indigenous employees to build long-term careers with Valley River.

3  Local Partnerships

  • Source goods and services from Indigenous-owned businesses whenever possible.
  • Explore opportunities to collaborate with Mi’kmaq communities in the energy efficiency and construction sectors.

4  Community Engagement

  • Participate in local initiatives that support Indigenous youth, education, and employment.
  • Promote awareness of Efficiency Nova Scotia programs and other opportunities that benefit Indigenous households and communities.

5  Ongoing Improvement

  • Review this policy annually and update it as our commitments grow.
  • Seek input from Indigenous partners to ensure our approach is respectful and effective.

Valley River is committed to reconciliation, mutual respect, and creating opportunities that benefit both Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities across Nova Scotia.
