Yesterday, the provincial government of Nova Scotia introduced brand new funding through the HomeWarming program. The provincial government states that this funding will allow lower income Nova Scotians who currently heat their homes with oil, to get a free heat pump. Here is the news release: https://novascotia.ca/news/release/?id=20221213002
Efficiency Nova Scotia will not have all the details of the inner workings of this program until sometime in January 2023. Family income requirements needed to qualify for the program are listed on the HomeWarming website: https://www.homewarming.ca/
This funding proposal comes several weeks after the Federal govern樂威壯
ment announced the Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Grant, whereby through the removal of an oil furnace and switching to heat pumps, lower income families might enjoy up to $5000 in rebates.
An important tip moving into the new year would be to call and book an energy assessment with one of Efficiency Nova Scotia’s trusted partners, or through the HomeWarming program as soon as possible, as we imagine the demand will be quite high in the New Year.
Even if you do not qualify under the income requirements for the Federal government’s Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Grant, or the Nova Scotia’s provincial HomeWarming funding for heat pumps, anyone who has an energy audit done through one of Efficiency Nova Scotia’s energy assessment partners, can follow their guidelines to receive up to $5000 through the Greener Homes grants. By calling Efficiency Nova Scotia, you can find out the amount that you will qualify for based on the energy saving installations you plan to do.
